Moving the Party-ing South

From my step back in time at Ohio reunions I am now back into a real step back in time--I have returned to Kentucky.

 This is where the action is however. The morning glories went wild while I was gone and are bloomin' happy.  And tomorrow evening there is a happening on the courthouse square-- Taste of Georgetown. Samples from all the foodie places will be sold to enjoy  along with live music.

Except on my rooftop: First Friday members are bringing their goodies upstairs to drink beer along with the food and music.

Only Mountain Dew passes the "drinking in public" test in Georgetown.

I Am Not Aging Well

Squeezed in between family reunion activities I touched base with my high school class reunion--a class of 40 graduates from decades ago; now down about 70 percent and also a much larger reunion of Ridgeville High school classes that graduated 50 or more years ago.

Everyone came disguised as their grandparents as was expected but it was the level of conservative thinking, lack of interest in even using computers, and safe approach to life that made me realize that I'm a total misfit.

If I moved back to this area, I'd have a membership to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; it pulsates with energy. No one shared my enthusiasm. I've got to learn this aging gracefully stuff--I'm running out of time.

 

Family Guys

Family reunion weekend has drawn to a close; it included trips to the Cleveland Science Museum, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the incredible heaven for foodies of Cleveland's West side Market. We came from 7 states, from coast to coast and border to border, proving that the family that doesn't stay together has much more fun when it gets together.

Lots of food, beer, s'mores and "side splitting" stories revealed; no past history is sacred in this family!

 

Reunion #2

In addition to the family reunion, I'll be squeezing in a high school class reunion this weekend. The school housed all 12 grades when I went there and it was on Route 20.

In Your Face

Discovered that the accidentalhighway.com website now shows access to Facebook and YouTube,  along with our expanding personal website and through the Carnegie Center in New Albany, IN. Who knew? (duh! I wasn't even sure what YouTube was and I'm on it!)

Driving to a family reunion in northern Ohio this week. Westlake is  also having a 150 year awareness of the first families in that town honoring them with flags. It includes my great, great grandfather who came for religious freedom (kind of an oxymoron) and became a successful farmer.

His grandson, my grandfather later built the farmhouse below which still looks good. Our reunion will be held at my brother's house which is just across a field. We're coming from 10 states, many can't make it but it there will be lots of laughs, which my family tends to do.

There is no stopping them now. Check back just one week ago and see where they were clinging to the maze of strings.. And they're s-t-i-l-l  c-l-i-m-b-i-n-g---- 

As the Clouds Roll By

Now that 20/20 Vision exhibition and website:(www.accidentalhighway.com) are currently making no demands, Ohio reunion plans are in place, and the initial reservations (train, rooms and auto) for the August trip west are pinned down it's time to sit out on the rooftop each evening  and enjoy the chimney swifts, night hawks, occasional falcon and assorted other birds.

And watch the clouds roll by:

Too bad the constantly tweeting, dare devil flying swifts are too fast to photo. They put on an amazing exhibition.

And They're Off!

Remember the design of strings for the morning glory screen on my back deck?  (see What Madness is This?)

This past week they began their race to the top. It's working beautifully!

It's only a matter of days now before they form a perfect screen.

Stiff Competition

Last weekend--

The good news:  20/20 Vision exhibit opened with 56 fine photos.

The bad news: The news media opened with one grainy photo of Anthony Wiener's wiener.

We just couldn't win against that kind of competition. 

For the Books

The heat now equals my IQ--high 90's. I don't have to think about the exhibit for the first time in months and I can approach that pile of summer reading:
